PROVIDING QUALITY, AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE
Rising health care costs have hurt our economy and left too many Oregonians without health care coverage. Congressman Wu has been fighting to reduce the cost of health care, provide prescription drug coverage through Medicare, and make quality health care more accessible for all Oregonians.

As our Congressman, David Wu has:

Introduced legislation to decrease the cost of prescription drugs, including a provision to allow for the re-importation of prescription drugs from countries like Canada and England, and to provide full coverage for medication costs for every person who qualifies for Medicare.
Introduced legislation to extend the May 15th Medicare Prescription Drug enrollment deadline until December 31st, 2006 and to eliminate late-enrollment penalties for this year.

SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS AND VETERANS

Fought attempts to roll back environmental laws protecting the safety of our drinking water and the quality of the air we breathe.

Helped expand and improve Oregon parks like the Fort Clatsop National Memorial and the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge.

REDUCING OUR RELIANCE ON FOREIGN OIL
As gasoline prices continue to rise, hitting consumers at the pump, we are reminded that we must move our country toward energy independence. We should be spending our money developing biofuels in the midwest rather oil in the mideast. This session, I supported tax deductions to corporations that purchase hybrid vehicles and to extend the tax credit for private individuals who purchase hybrid cars. I also voted to extend tax deductions for the development and use of renewable energy, like wind and solar, and pursue alternative forms of transportation that help grow our economy, such as the Washington County Commuter Rail. In addition to working to create more family wage jobs, we must also raise the federal minimum wage to $7.25 and continue to stop the Bush Administration's attempts to eliminate overtime pay for Oregon workers.
